Chances are, if you found this page you already know why everyone is raving about the visco elastic mattress topper, but if not I will give a brief intro to the benefits.

Visco elastic material instantly conforms to each person unique curves relieving pressure points.  There will no longer be uneven pressure on your knees, hips, and shoulders while sleep.  This amazing material will evenly distribute the pressure across your entire body, leaving you with an incredibly relaxing, almost floating feeling while you rest.

I already know why the visco elastic mattress topper is so great, but what is the best foam density for me?

Not everyone’s body is the same, and not everyone enjoys the same density of their mattress, this is why you have different density options.  When choosing a density, I first take into account body size and sleeping preferences.  Lighter customers tend to agree that the 4lb visco elastic memory foam Mattress topper is perfect.  There are some customers who prefer a firmer feel while they sleep, and for these people I recommend looking at a 5lb density.  Heavier customers should take a look at the denser toppers.  I always recommend people try out various densities and find the absolute most comfortable density, and then go one model denser.  Going slightly denser seems to provide the best sleep.

I picked my density; now help me choose the thickness!

The first thing I do when choosing a thickness is analyze my sleeping position.  If you are someone who sleeps on their back or side, you will want to start looking at the three inch pads.  If you sleep on your stomach I would start off looking at the two inch visco mattress topper.  Once you have your baseline thickness it is now time to factor in the density you chose.  The denser you like the mattress, the thinner the pad you need.  My fiancé and I absolutely fell in love with the five pound density and three inch thickness.

How do this amazing material work?
Visco Elastic Mattress Toppers have a much higher resistance to change than the traditional foam we are all used to.  This is why if you apply pressure quickly the pad will feel very firm.  The foam is designed to slowly compress with your body weight and heat.  Once the foam is contoured to your body, it will hold it’s for a short time when you remove yourself from the bed.  A general rule is, the longer the pad holds its form, the higher the quality.

Is it true that visco elastic foam was really invented by NASA?

NASA truly did invent this amazing product; however they did not actually use the product much.  It did not prove to suit their needs; however medical companies immediately realized the wonder foam’s ability to relieve pressure points.  You can now find visco elastic foam in a wide assortment of medical products like; wheelchairs, and hospital beds and more.

Visco Elastic Mattress Topper drawbacks?

I’ll be honest, there are a few things that concern some people about these products that should be brought to your attention.  First, the material does have a strong odor when you first remove them from their vacuum sealed packaging.  My specific mattress pad smelled very similar to a bucket of freshly opened paint. This odor goes away after the first few days, but some people that are very sensitive to strong odors may have problems for the first few days.  Second if you do not purchase a high quality product, they tend to not breathe quite as well as a regular mattress (This is not true with the high quality products, they breath just as well, if not better than a traditional mattress.)  And lastly the density of the material changes with temperature.  If you happen to live in a home without consistent climate control (I do not mean just a few degrees, we are talking 80-90 in the summer, and 60-70 in the winter) you may notice you get more support in the winter, and less in the summer.

Concluding Thoughts

You spend roughly one third of your life sleeping, and often more time if you are having poor quality sleep.  You owe it to yourself to get the best sleep possible.  You will quickly find you are able to sleep the same amount or slightly less while having more energy throughout the day.  Many people have also found this amazing material has solved chronic back aches they have been unable to escape for years!  Do yourself a favor and at least try one of these amazing mattress toppers.

Visco Elastic Foam Mattress Topper

After having a pillow top mattress for years, I was getting frustrated with how it slowly lost its firmness.  I decided it was about time to get mattress.  Whenever I am planning on making an expensive long-term purchase I tend to do a lot of research and reading.  Mattress technology has changed a lot since I made my last mattress purchase so I had a lot of catching up to do.  I quickly read a lot about how a visco elastic foam mattress topper could be purchased and just placed on top of my old bed to make it better than when it was new.  I read they could help with back pain which has been and off and on problem throughout my life in my lower back.  I did read that it is still important to purchase a new mattress even if you plan on getting a visco elastic foam mattress topper if your old mattress has deep sags and or dips where you sleep.  This did not affect me as I rotate my mattress and it was wearing fairly evenly

When selecting your memory foam mattress topper it is important to choose a name brand.  I have read about many stories of off-brand mattress toppers not living up to their claims.  You will also want to go to a store that allows you to test them out.  The toppers will have different “foam density” which is measured in pounds per cubic foot, the higher the density the better for your back generally.  I have also read that higher density pads last a couple years longer which is an added bonus.  You will also want to figure out your preferred thickness, I have seen them come as thin as 1 inch, and as thick as 6 inches.  The 3 inch visco mattress topper is about the sweet spot, and will most likely be the topper you see most frequently so it’s a good one to compare foam density’s with.  When I began my mission of finding my new bed, I planned on going all out, I figured since I spend 1/3rd of my life sleeping, I should not go cheap on this investment.  In the end I was able to spend only a couple hundred dollars and get a bed I enjoy much more than buying a new $1,000 mattress.

Here is a quick pros and cons list I made up when I was making my decision.

Visco Elastic Foam Mattress Topper:

Some of the benefits were the cheap cost compared to a full mattress, or a full memory foam mattress.  They toppers also give me the ability to be mobile, whenever I stay at a friend or relative’s house, I can fit my topper in my car and make a nice bed anywhere.  I also liked the fact that these toppers are hypo allergenic and provide good ventilation.

Some of the negatives I found were that I would still have to have my old mattress as my base; this did not effect me since my mattress wore evenly and did not have any big ruts in it.  I also did not like the smell of the visco elastic mattress topper when it was new.  The smell did however go away within a couple of days.

Overall I am so glad I made the decision to get a visco elastic foam mattress topper instead of a new mattress, my back feels better than ever and I saved a lot of money at the same time, who would have thought that was possible?  Definitely not this guy!

P90x Fitness

Normally I wouldn’t write about something like this, but I have become a firm believer that fitness greatly improves you sleep. If you do not want to read a fitness article, please stop here. I got the idea to write this article after reading this p90x review

What does being fit really mean? Does it mean you look skinny but don’t exercise or eat right? Does it mean you go to the gym everyday for three hours and eat few times a day? Does it mean eating cabbage soup for a month? Well for me being fit is being healthy, having energy to do the simple things in life like climb up the stairs without breaking a sweat and having a healthy heart.

With our busy lifestyles, school, work, kids, cleaning, cooking, and so on, who really has the time to go to the gym and work out? What will motivate us to get up and actually work out, change our lifestyle and eating habits? I know what made me change my lifestyle, going to the doctor at age 21 and finding out that I had very high cholesterol, higher then my overweight mother. I’m actually skinny, try to eat organic or natural products, avoided the fast food chains since I was 16, yet I was the one with the high cholesterol. I realized that one thing that I don’t do, and actually avoided, was working out.
It was easy to go to the gym in high school because you were forced to and would fail if you came unprepared three times. Who will judge you when you are out of high school and out into the real world? Who will force you to eat your vegetables and exercise for at least an hour? We are the ones that have to take care of ourselves and no one else can force us to do it otherwise.
A lot of people think ‘skinny’ when they think of exercise or diet but being skinny has its own set of health problems. We don’t have to be skinny to be healthy; we just have to eat right and exercise. Saying it is a lot easier than doing it, but ‘that’s how the cookie crumbles’. I’ve found that five minute yoga and stretch out of the bed is really not exercise but my own little hope that it was. Over the past two years I’ve avoided the doctor’s office and stuck with P90X instead. It has turned a small 5’3 weak and skinny girl into a very energetic and healthy woman.
If you are looking to turn around and have more energy, change your life around for the better and live longer then I suggest you click here to learn where to buy P90X! It has changed my cooking and eating habits as well as improved my physical health. If you are looking for a change and find that 5 minute yoga is not for you either, then try P90X. You can’t hurt your health by trying it, you can only improve it.

Vietnam War Vetran Oppression

The motion pictures “Hearts and Minds” and “First Blood” both equally depict the years after the Vietnam War in America. “Hearts and Minds”, which is a documentary, displays how war veterans and individuals during that period contributed to the war. The documentary reveals veterans and their particular accounts pertaining to situations in Vietnam and just how it had damaged their lives. First Blood is likewise about a Vietnam veteran that is dealt with horribly for no reason when he has to deal with the anti-war protestors when he returns home to America.

The documentary film (“Hearts and Minds”) as well as First Blood, offers some thorough and graphic pictures of the bloody events that were all too common in Vietnam. Events including the My Lai Massacre were described in the documentary which properly portrays how awful and dreadful the war was. The Massacre also shows why the protestors at home hated the war a lot which in turn induced so many riots during that time period. In both movies, veterans were treated terribly as they were bashed and put down directly after they returned home from the war. Whether they were pro war or against it, they were torn apart by Americans who disliked them just for the fact that they were included in the war.

In “First Blood”, the top character John Rambo comes back to The united states and is resented and utterly omitted from society. In the beginning of the flick he goes in a small town to find something to eat but is instantly kicked out. Since Rambo believed he did nothing wrong, he decides to go back to the community and not leave. When he does this, the police arrest and virtually tortured him, reminding him of the unbearable days in Vietnam. While he is being tortured, he impressively battles back and escapes. From that point on he goes through a huge battle trying to hide and fighting off the police who are trying to catch him. He uses his superb battle skills he learned in Vietnam to fight them off. At no point do the police give up and let him go, they just assume he is the enemy for the reason that he came out of the Vietnam War. For the first period in American history, war veterans were not honored but looked down upon after they returned from a war. The Vietnam War was one of the bloodiest and most questionable war ever and this is confirmed by what the veterans who arrived out of the war had to deal with when they arrived home. Most of the veterans just wanted to come home and enjoy themselves after they worked really hard and risked their life fighting for their nation. Unfortunately, instead of coming home to peace and a warm welcome, they were faced with anti-war protestors who developed yet another war at home…the veterans vs. the protestors. Regretfully many of these veterans also began smoking a great deal. Back then smoking wasn’t yet viewed as a dangerous thing to do. Vaporizers didn’t exist and thus they were unable to know that they could buy volcano vaporizer which could be a significantly healthier way to light up.

vietnam

Protestors of the Vietnam War try to force peace but fail miserably despite putting their entire hearts and souls into the movement.  I really think that everyone should take a moment to do some reading on the vietnam war, the veterans, and the oppression.  There are so many things I learned, and I now hold a much higher respect for our veterans.
